Utbildning

Swedish Pentecostal churches have been working with social development in Sweden and internationally since the beginning of the 20th century. The Swedish Pentecostal Movement included in 2008 around 84,000 members in 477 local churches, which makes it one of Sweden´s largets people movements.

In 1965 the Pentecostal churches started PMU InterLife, in order to make it possible to manage international development efforts funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

PMU InterLife is now a part of the Pentecostal Alliance of Independent
churches (Pingst ffs), which consists of a National and an International section (Pingst Nationellt / Pingst Internationellt). In the International section there are, apart from PMU InterLife, also other organizations which carry out church work, theological training, and media work etc. PMU InterLife is solely responsible for the social development work and for humanitarian assistance.

For more than 40 years, PMU InterLife has developed in cooperation with local Pentecostal churches in Sweden and in developing countries, as well as with other development organizations, both governmental and private. PMU InterLife
is one of sixteen Frame Organizations with its own agreement with Sida.

The Social Work sector (PMU InterLife) is lead by Director Niclas Lindgren. The Chairperson for the steering group for the Social Work is Karin Stenselius.

This Project Manual has been written primarily for the Swedish Churches and their local co-operation partners that currently co-operate with, or want to begin cooperating with PMU InterLife.

Its purpose is to ease the management of projects primarily financed by Sida or the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department (ECHO). This manual is a steering document and provides advice on many different aspects of project management – from new project idea to the presentation of project results.

It addresses several types of project support in development co-operation and humanitarian work. The first section describes the PMU value foundation and the attitude and approach that shall permeate all activities carried out with PMU support. Our relations, and our way of approaching and describing others is important, and affects how well, and to what degree we reach common goals.

PMU’s work methods are primarily based upon an interactive learning process. We wish to be a learning organisation in which dialogue takes centre-stage. This means that in discussion with our co-operation partners, we listen and continuously re-examine what we do and how we do it. We strive to see and understand how everything fits together in a process in which we are continuously influencing each other. What this means is that this Project Manual is in a continuous state of change, and will be updated on a continuous basis. The rules and guidelines we currently use are based upon Sida and ECHO’s instructions, but are also based upon our practical experience.
